Unison Selection 2000
This wine is our reserve and is also a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
The grapes are sourced from particular parts of the vineyard which have shown themselves to yield the best quality fruit. These parcels are tended with extra care and attention to detail, with the yield being further reduced to obtain a consistently powerful, but still elegant wine with a very fine tannin structure and an impressively long finish.
The wine receives a maceration of around 21 days and 12 months barrel aging in new and one year old French and American oak barriques, followed by a further 11 months of integration in large wooden casks.
The Selection is a truly world-class red, receiving consistently outstanding accolades from the press.
Almost black in colour, Unison Selection has an aristocratic aroma ranging from blackberries to plum complexed with notes of nuts and spices. The palate is rich, concentrated, wonderfully balanced, and is full of the flavours suggested on the nose. Finely structured and soft tannins lead to a beautifully long and lingering finish.
As this wine is so well-balanced, it can be enjoyed when young, but has significant cellaring potential.
