Unison Classic Blend

Classic Blend 2007

eRobertParker.com Wine Advocate Oct 2009 Neal Martin 90/100
"....the 2007 Classic Blend has superb intensity on the nose: broody black fruit, boysenberry, hoi sin and a touch of tobacco....."

Tizwine.com July 2009

4 Stars and Consumers Choice
"This wine used to be simply called Unison. It has a habit of improving with age and this is no exception. That does not mean that it is not good now - it is excellent. There are intense blackcurrant/cassis aromas and flavours with minty undertones and tight, firm yet integrated tannins and well balanced oak characteristics. Consumers loved it.

Unison 2000 "… serious stuff." (Warren Barton, Dominion 100 Top Wines)

"Unison won a gold medal at this year's National Wine Awards. In doing so, it has restored the faith of at least one jaded critic in a system that has often seemed to reward obvious and ostentatious rather than sturdy, honest and reliable wine. Many NZ Bordeaux style wines lack the essential structure of the type. While every effort is made to maximize colour and aroma, little attention is paid to balance and texture. It should be ripe, well-balanced and workmanlike, and Unison 2000 is just that. It has a silky texture, a rich plumy bouquet and fine, ripe, well-defined tannin. It feels like an honest expression of its vineyard, and its wholesome character reflects the effort its makers put into their wines." (Tim Harris, Auckland Herald, December 2001)

Die Rotweine der neuen Generation: (Red wines of the new generation)

"Some well-known producers are members of Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District, like the small winery Unison with their arrestingly aromatic and smooth red wines. They underline the credibility of this idea …" (Der Feinschmecker, June 2001)
